BBC footage raises infiltration fear

Before I go into this article I would like to say that the police do a lot of intelligence gathering to combat crimes who remembers all the well publish demonstrations that took place in the UK such as Coal Miners, & CND which is on recond I’m sdure that you DONT WANT ME TO NAME certain MPs who were or still members of CND.

The Metropolitan Police refused to confirm whether it had allegedly infiltrated Saturday’s demonstrations after BBC footage captured what appeared to be an undercover officer among protesters.

The aerial video filmed in central London shows a mob of police surging into protesters and pushing them back.

But one individual who looks like a protester can be seen approaching the police and being allowed to pass through a number of officers before concealing something inside his clothing.

The Metropolitan Police has remained tight-lipped on whether it deploys undercover officers at protests.

Campaigners have called for more honesty from the force after a string of ex-police infiltrators went to the press to boast of their role in activist circles.

The footage from Saturday sparked speculation online that the individual had been an undercover officer.

Police monitoring group Fitwatch said this would not be “unusual.”

Fitwatch activist Val Swain said that there was no evidence to suggest that such officers were used to instigate violence.

She added that their use was not confined to demonstrations at which disorder or violence was predicted.

“We know that there are two types of undercover police who operate on demonstrations – those that have already infiltrated protest groups and those who are used on the day of protests who dress in protest-style clothing.

“The extent to which undercover police are used is unknown as is their precise motives or which aspects of the crowd they target – although it is clear there is clear that they seek to gather intelligence and manipulate the behaviour of crowds.

“It could be likely that there is an element that focuses on whipping up tension between protesters who are for and against civil disobedience.”
